  Moving from PEP to degree programs – what next?

  Actions required in FebruaryStep 1Complete the PEP on Thursday 4 February, or on Monday 8 February if a Supplementary Exam is offered. Students will be notified if they have been offered a supplementary exam at 12pm on Friday 5 February. An email will be sent by 5.00pm on Monday 15 February to all students advising if they have passed or failed the PEP. Students who have passed the PEP can enrol online into award programs from Tuesday 16 February. Certificates reports will be available for collection on Tuesday 16 February. Please check the certificate reports collection schedule emailed with your result for the time when you can collect your certificate and reports from the English Language Centre. Please also ensure you are in Adelaide to receive your certificate and report.

  Actions required in FebStep 3 – Enrolling online Most PEP Students have conditional offers- (conditional on meeting the English language entry requirements - PEP pass required). Therefore you cannot enrol until you have a confirmed PEP pass. However you can do your research and attend any advice session that may be offered to receive advice about how to structure your enrolment and then enrol when you have received notification of a pass in the PEP.

  What is Online Enrolment?

  All undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students enrol online, from any computer with internet access via Access Adelaide at the UNIFIED portal.

  Getting course adviceBefore you log onto Access Adelaide you need to know which courses you need to take in both Semester 1 and Semester 2. On the enrolment page you can find out how to get course advice

  You might receive an email from your school with a recommended study plan attached You could be advised to contact your program coordinator There are different ways of getting course advice – it varies across Faculties and levels of study (undergraduate/postgraduate) If you are not sure what to do contact your Faculty (but best to wait until you have passed your PEP)

  Planning your enrolment When you know what courses you will enrol in, find a computer with internet access. You will need your user name and password. Plan with your visa conditions in mind

  Planning your enrolment - Visa Rules and Enrolment Load You are expected to complete your program within the duration of the Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for your degree program, so plan your load carefully. A full-time load is equivalent to 12 units per semester. Plan to enrol in 12 units each semester. If you enrol in less than that, you will need to catch-up in a future enrolment period. You must be in at least one face-to-face course per semester.

  Attend classes and other academic commitments.Do not work without approved work rights and do not breach the working hour restrictions – a maximum of 40 hours per fortnight whilst your course is in session. Make satisfactory course progress

  As an international student it is important that you seek assistance from your School or Faculty and the International Student Centre to put in place a plan that will address academic problems to improve your grades in future semesters. Continued failure over a three study periods may see a student lose their place in the program. Remember help is available!

  What classes do I need to enrol in ? Courses consist of one or more classes of various types– Lectures, Tutorials, Practicals, Workshops, Seminars etc

  You enrol in all classes for each course. All classes all have a unique class number.

  Each course has an enrolment class that drives the enrolment process and links to any other related classes.

  Step 2 – Creating your timetable Write down your preferred class time on the worksheet. Write down the class number as well. Repeat search for each course.

  You may find time clashes and you will need to adjust your timetable by choosing an alternative class time for one or more of your classes. When you are satisfied with your (paper) timetable and there are no clashes, you are ready to enrol on-line.

  Step 3 - Login to Access Adelaide Your username and password– Your username is your student ID with an ‘a’ in front – The same for email, accessing computers on campus and Access Adelaide

  Forgotten your password?– go to the Hub Central Level 3 (with photo ID) OR – change online www.adelaide.edu.au/technology/yourservices/accounts/change-password/

  Oops, added the wrong course !!Just drop the course ! You can drop courses at any timeRemember last day to drop without penalty is the census date !! After this date, you will be charged the full cost of the course.

  You can only add new courses until week 2 of each semester online (14 March for Semester 1)After week 2 you need to get approval from the Faculty/School office to add new courses for that semester.

  What happens if my PEP result are unsatisfactory?If you have a conditional offer and receive an unsatisfactory result there are different options to consider. Option 1 Undertake and successfully complete further English language studies and delay starting your degree program until semester 2.

  What happens if my PEP result are unsatisfactory?Option 2 Sit an IELTS or TOEFL test and if you gain the scores required for your degree program you will fulfil the conditions and be eligible to enter without undertaking further English language studies. (Please note: Timing of the IELTS test and availability of test results may mean you cannot start your degree program in Feb 2016)

  What happens if my PEP result are unsatisfactory?

  If do not meet the English language entry requirements and you wish to stay in Australia the maximum duration the Department of Immigration will allow between the end of your current PEP (04/02/2016) and the start of a new program is 2 months.

  Can I change my program before the start of Semester 1 2016?Not necessarily - This will depend on whether you meet the entry criteria for the new program and whether you have applied before the application deadline. You can contact the International Office on www.international.adelaide.edu.au/enquiries/ or visit Ask Adelaide staff on Level 3 Hub Central.We strongly recommend that you commence your current program of study before you make any decision to change. And ask advice at your enrolment advice session on how to structure your degree to meet any longer term objectives (e.g. double major)

  There is an enrolment advice session scheduled before my PEP results are released. What should I do?

  It is important to attend the scheduled advice session so that you can meet key staff and receive advice about how to structure your enrolment. Then when your PEP pass is confirmed you can enrol on Tuesday 16 Feb.

  When do I enrol for 2017 courses?Semester 1 and Semester 2 2017 enrolment will occur in January 2017. You will be advised of the open times later in the year. Summer School 2017 enrolment will take place in December 2016.Anyone interested in undertaking Summer School Courses should speak to your School o

  Can I finish my degree early before my CoE and visa end?We do not recommend that students overload – i.e. Enrol in more than 12 units each semester, 9 units per Trimester If you want to complete your program in a shorter timeframe enrolling in Winter and Summer Schools is the best way to achieve an early completion If you do complete your degree early – (e.g. You complete in December 2017 and your CoE ends in July 2018). The University is legally obliged to report the early completion to the Department of Immigration and Boarder Protection (DIBT)

  I have paid tuition fee deposit ($9,000). When do I pay the remainder of my fees?Your tuition fees will be calculated after you have enrolled.The amount you pay is based on your enrolment load per semester and you are billed at the beginning of each semester. You can view your invoice in Access Adelaide under ‘My Finances’ the day after you have enrolled.

  You will receive an invoice in your Access Adelaide account plus you will receive an email to your student email account letting you know that fees are payable. There will be a due date for payment printed on your tuition fee invoice. (This will be Thursday 17 March 2016, so plan now!)
