论词语重叠的意义
Abstact Reduplication is an important linguistic device in Modern Chinese and in the regional dialects in China.The same is true for the other Asian-Pacific languages of the Sino-Tibetan, Malayo-Polynesian and South-Asian language families. Reduplication can be divided into three types, morphological, lexical and clausal.This article, however, mainly studies the lexical reduplication.Its main function is to change the size,the quantity,the frequency, the degree or the time-duration which the base form denotes.This article makes an attempt to subcategorize lexical reduplicates in Chinese in the hope that these subcategories could themselves form a systemwith enough explanatory power.
