Formal Definition of User Experience User experience is a term used to describe the overall experience and sat isfaction a user has when using a product or system. It most commonly refers to a combination of software and business topic s, such as selling over the web, but it applies to any result of interaction design. Wikipedia definition Ux What’s User Experience? User Experience Based on this definition, then, user experience is the characterization of what a user feels while using any product. This can extend from a car to a mobile phone to a magazine or a child’s t oy. Most commonly, however the specific term ‘user experience’ is applied to that of software, web applications and digital devices whereas the more general user-product experiences are referred to as ‘experience design.’ Ux What’s User Experience? gn In broad terms, user-centered design (UCD) is a design philosophy and a p rocess in which the needs, wants, and limitations of the end user of an int erface or document are given extensive attention at each stage of the desi gn process. User-centered design can be characterized as a multi-stage problem solvin g process that not only requires designers to analyze and foresee how use rs are likely to use an interface, but also to test the validity of their assum ptions with regards to user behaviour in real world tests with actual users. Such testing is necessary as it is often very difficult for the designers of an interface to understand intuitively what a first-time user of their design ex periences, and what each user's learning curve may look like.
