　　Gatsby is aambitious, determined, hopeful,and romantic figure but he endedtragicallyand pessimistically.

　　Adventurous and ambitious.Gatsby was not a high-born man, to start with.But he was adventurous and ambitious. His parents were dirt-poor farmers form North Dakota. Buthe never accepted them as his parents at all. In his own imagination, he was a son of God, destined for future glory.Chasing this destiny,a 16-year-old Gatsby ran far away from home. “He had changed it……half an hour(chapter 6)”One afternoon,off the coast of Lake superior, he spotted a yacht in peril.He rode out and rescued the vessel and its captain This was his opportunity and he seized it. He sailed the yacht out of danger and into his future.Gatsby showed skill and ambition.

　　When he grew up, he met Daisy for the first time and they fell in love as soon as they saw each other despite of the social status. “His heart……complete.(chapter 6)”However, Gatsby was too poor to be worthy of Daisy, so he decided to climb and struggle. “Out of the corner……milk of wonder(chapter 6). He held a belief that love comes along with money and that was why he chose to earn more money. But this made him see the world in a wrong perspective.

　　Hopefuland romantic.After his success in business, he hosted a lot of parties in his extravagant househoping that one day Daisy would participate in his parties along with other high-born people so that he could see Daisy again and win her back. He held that belief for 5 years and never gave up. Then, he made it.“Your place……here to tea.(chapter 5)”.When they saw each other, that romantic relationship occurred again even though they knew it was wrong to do so. Five lost years struggled on Daisy’s lips.But all she could manage was following her heart. If only it had been enough for Gatsby, just to hold Daisy, but he had a grand vision for his life and Daisy’s part in it, which led to a tragic ending.

　　Eventually, his life ended tragically and pessimistically.When they decided to tell Daisy’s husband everything, things went out of control and Daisy started to panic. On the way back, she was driving the car but sadly a woman died because of her. However, Gatsby was willing to be responsible for this accident and he believed that Daisy would call him up and go away with him. At this very moment, the woman’s husband got into Gatsby’s house and killed him before he killed himself. Then ridiculously, Nick rang, wrote and implored, but not a single one of the sparkling hundreds that enjoyed his hospitality attended the funeral. And from Daisy, not even a flower.” I called up Daisy……no one’s there.(chapter 9)”

　　He had come such a long way and his dream must have seen so close that he could hardly fail to grasp it. But he did not know that is was already behind him. Gatsby died in such a dramatical way, but his greatness shall never fade away.
