人民教育出版社直属于中华人民共和国教育部，是一家主要从事基础教育教材和其他各级各类教材及教育图书研究、编写、编辑、出版和发行的大型专业出版社。建社以来，先后研究、编写、出版了11套全国通用的中小学教材；累计出版各类出版物3万余种，发行量逾600亿册。

经过六十年的发展，人民教育出版社形成了全方位、多样化、系列化、立体化的出版格局。人民教育出版社的出版物涵盖了学前教育、基础教育、师范教育、职业教育、高等教育、成人教育、继续教育、民族教育、特殊教育、对外汉语教育等领域；各学科人教版教材均以教科书为核心，配以教学参考资料、教学辅助资料和学具、教具等丰富的教学资源；人教版出版物具备纸介质、电子音像、多媒体及网络出版物等形态。

The People’s Education Press (PEP) is a press under the direct leadership of the Ministry of Education (MOE) of the People’s Republic of China. It mainly engages in research, writing, compilation, publication, distribution, and the import and export school textbooks and other educational books. PEP has compiled and published eleven sets of nationwide school textbooks and teaching materials. Since its establishment, over 30 thousand titles have been published with a total circulation of 60 billion copies.

Over the past sixty years, PEP has formed its own publication style: comprehensive, diversi? ed, all-embracing, and multi-media. PEP’s scope is comprehensive, publishing textbooks for primary and secondary education, vocational education, special education, higher education, normal education, pre-school education and teaching Chinese as a foreign language. PEP has also developed many teaching resources, supplementary materials, teaching aids and reference books, which make its products all-embracing. In addition, PEP’s products are available in different media: paper, electronic, audiovisual, online, etc.

PEP considers participation in international exchange and cooperation to be of great importance for the enrichment of its work. So PEP has participated in programs led by UNESCO, UNICEF, UNFPA, UNDP and WB, and has developed extensive cooperation with publishing houses and educational organizations in more than 20 countries. These include Pearson Education Group, CENGAGE Learning Group, Western Kentucky University, Yorkshire University, and the State A. S. Pushkin Russian Language Institute.

《标准中文》系列教材是专门为中国赴海外留学人员的子女和其他有志于学习中文的青少年编写的中小学汉语教材。整套教材包括学生用书、教学指导手册、练习册、生字卡片、词语卡片。

课文内容丰富多彩，练习设计实用有趣，特别注意培养学生的自学能力和创造意识，帮助学生更好地学习汉语，了解中国特有的文化和风俗习惯。语法点由易到难，螺旋上升，听说读写互相结合。整套教材标准规范、系统性强、分级合理、循序渐进，配有精美的图画或照片，图文并茂。

Standard Chinese is a series of primary and secondary school teaching materials specially compiled for the children of Chinese students studying overseas, and also for those foreigners who wish to learn Chinese. The whole set consists of student’s books, teacher’s guides, workbooks, Chinese character cards, and word and phrase cards.

The texts are rich and colorful in content; the exercises are practical and interesting and are designed to foster students’ independence and creativity in learning Chinese and in understanding China’s unique culture, traditions and customs. The grammar points are graded gradually from easy to dif? cult, and listening, speaking, reading, and writing are inter-linked. The whole set is standard and systematic and is logically graded.

《标准中文》学生用书共3级9册，每册30课，供海外1-9年级（6-15岁）学生使用。通过学习本教材，学生将学会汉语拼音，掌握2 000个左右常用汉字，6 000个左右常用词，300个左右基本句；具有初步的听说读写能力，有一定的自学能力；能用中文处理日常事务，并为进一步学习中文和了解中国文化打下坚实的基础。

为了方便广大师生使用本教材，2003年我们出版了中英双语版《标准中文》，其中第一级和第二级六册学生用书全部改编成中英对照形式，供各地师生选用。

为了适应学习者的要求，2006年起，《标准中文》修订版开始逐册推出。《标准中文》修订版兼顾对中文感兴趣的外国孩子的学习需求，减轻学生负担，降低学习难度，提高学生学习兴趣，练习形式更加丰富、生动、活泼。目前，已出版1-6册。

The nine students’ books of Standard Chinese are divided into three

levels. Each volume has 30 lessons. They are for overseas students in Grades

1-9 (aged 6-15). The students will master Chinese pinyin, around 2000

commonly-used Chinese characters, 6000 commonly-used words and 300

key sentences. They should acquire a basic ability in listening, speaking,

reading, and writing, and several independent learning skills. They will be

able to use Chinese to deal with daily matters. The goal is to give them a

solid foundation for further learning of the Chinese language and Chinese

culture.

In 2003, the Bilingual Version of Standard Chinese was published.

The complete set consists of six volumes, including the students’ books for the ? rst and second levels.

In order to meet the demands of learners, Standard Chinese has been revised since the beginning of 2006. The revised editions consider the requirements of children interested in learning Chinese, to lighten the learners’ burden and make things easier. The exercises are also richer and more lively in form. At present, Standard Chinese (Revised Edition) 1-6 have been published.

词语卡片与《标准中文》（修订版）配套。可以用来进行课堂教学、复习巩固、字词游戏、学生自学字词等。每张卡片分正背两面。正面的主体是生词，生词下是对应的英文翻译。背面主体是图画的形式，展现的是生词的意义，其右上角是生词的汉语拼音。

The workbooks of Standard Chinese form part of a series of level one and two student books. They are divided into Book A and Book B. Book A contains exercises of odd numbered lessons and Book B contains exercises of even numbered lessons. The whole set consists of 12 books. They are mainly used for homework, but the teacher can also select some exercises to be used in class.

The Chinese character cards of Standard Chinese (Revised Edition) are used in conjunction with the textbooks in classroom teaching, reviewing, words games and self-study. The obverse side of each card is the new character. The radical and the order of strokes observed in calligraphy are indicated. The pronunciation and the number of strokes of a Chinese character are indicated in the reverse side.

The word and phrase cards of Standard Chinese (Revised Edition) are used in conjunction with the textbooks, which can be used in classroom teaching, reviewing, words games and self-study. The obverse side of each card has the new word and the English equivalent in a smaller size. The reverse side shows a picture indicating the meaning of the word,

with the pinyin at the top right corner.
