Lee Academy 2 + 1 Program Model

A Dual Diploma Program

2014-2015

Note: The current 2 + 1 Program Model is designed to allow students from a foreign nation to obtain both a diploma from their domestic school as well as a diploma from Lee Academy. The 2 + 1 Program sets graduation standards and

establishes a progressive path for completion of the program which must be followed by all participants. The path established requires the student to

complete two years of education in their native country plus a summer and full year at Lee Academy. Lee Academy graduation requirements are met through the transfer of credit from the student’s school of origin as well as completion of specific coursework at Lee Academy. This program has been designed to specifically meet the needs of students from China.

Lee Academy 2 + 1 Program

01. Each graduate must successfully complete a total of 24 credits for graduation;

credits necessary to meet this requirement are obtained through transfer of credit from the student’s native school plus completion of credits at Lee Academy.

02. Students must successfully complete the following:

? Four credits in English plus Writing Lab

? Seven credits in Mathematics and Science (Life Science is required as is the

completion of Algebra)

? Three Credits in Social Studies including US History 1 and 2 and World

Cultures

? Two credits in Wellness (Health / Physical Education

? One credit in Fine Arts

03. Each graduate must complete a minimum of one year and one summer session

in residence at Lee Academy.

Lee Academy 2 + 1 Program

01. Each Student will complete year one in their native school (grade 10 in China) 02. Each student will successfully complete English 1 (Freshman English) in

residence at their native school. A US or western teacher will be assigned to

teach the course in the school in China. 03. Each student will successfully complete a six week summer session at Lee

Academy between Grade 10 and Grade 11 (China).

04. Each student will successfully complete the following course work during the Lee Academy Summer Session:

? English 2 (Sophomore English)

? World Cultures (Social Studies)

? Writing Lab

05. The summer session academic work will involve the use of Distance Education assets which will require the student to complete work prior to attending the

Summer Session as well as after the summer session is complete. This work will be completed at the student’s native school in the spring prior to the Summer Session and the fall immediately following the Summer Session.

06. Each student will complete a second year in their native school (grade 11 in China).

07. Each student will successfully complete English 3 (Junior English) and US History 1 in residence at their native school. A US or western teacher will be assigned to teach the course at the native school in China.

08. Each student successfully completing grade 11 in their Chinese school will receive their diploma from their native high school providing they have met all requirements of the school and Chinese Government.

09. A transcript analysis will be completed by Lee Academy to determine that the student has taken all required coursework and can take the additional

coursework necessary at Lee Academy to receive the Lee Academy diploma.

10. Each student will attend their senior year at Lee Academy to complete the remaining graduation requirements for a Lee Academy diploma

? English 4 (senior English)

? US History 2

? One credit in Fine Arts (if necessary)

? Wellness (Health / Physical Education) if necessary

? ESL support and test prep for the TOFEL, SAT or ACT as necessary

? All remaining credits necessary to meet the Lee Academy graduation

standard.

11. Each student successfully completing all graduation requirements will be awarded a Lee Academy diploma.
