Oral Presentation of the Teaching Plan for
Module X, Julia 2
I. Teaching Material Analysis
This is the first unit in JEFC Book 2, and the topic is “Where did you go on vacation” Today my lesson is the reading part of this unit. The text is two diary entries about Jane’s vacation, I will help students to know about how does Jane plan her vacation, and help them study how to plan their vacation. At the same time, we also will study some new words and some important words’ usages.
According to this, I set the teaching objectives as follows.

Language Objectives
(1) Words and/or Phrases
My Ss will grasp the vocabulary like decide, try,paragliding,bicycle,bird ,building,trader,wonder,difference,top,wait,umbrella,wet,below,enough,hungry and the main phrases like feel like,because of , as well as some well-structured sentence.
Purpose: enable my students to write their vacation planning after learning these words, and understand the passage better.
(2) Sentence Patterns
In this unit, there are some important sentences like “I arrived in Penang in Malaysia this morning”, “So we decided to go to the beach near our hotel”, “I feel like I was a bird”.
Purpose: let students master more usages of these sentences,and help them write their planning.
2. Ability Objectives
I will develop students’ speaking ability to talking about vacation experience with the new words and phrases students’ have learnt in this unit, and improve students’ writing ability to write their vacation experience with the new words and phrases students’ have learnt in this unit.
Purpose: After teaching students these abilities, they will be able to write their own vacation planning.
3. Moral Objectives
Let students to know how to plan their vacation meaningful.

III. Important Points
Based on the requirement of the syllabus, the key point of this lesson is master the meaning and usages of these new important words: arrive, decide, try, feel like, difference, because of,below,enough,
IV. Difficult Points
Based on the requirement of the syllabus, the difficult point is study how to use the important sentence patterns:
(1)I arrived in Penang in Malaysia this morning.
(2)So we decided to go to the beach near our hotel.
(3)I feel like I was a bird.
V. Teaching Methods
My main instructional aim is to develop the students’ abilities of reading and writing. As we all know that the teacher should have the leading effects, that is, teachers should guide Ss learn well.
So according to my students' English learning background, I will choose the following methods.
1. Communicative Approach that will help students to plan their vacation better.
2. Teaching Aids: PPT
VI. Teaching Procedures
Step I Lead-in (5minutes)
At first, say hello for class, then I will ask whether they have an interesting summer vacation, and give them some time to make a group to communicate their vacation experience. After time is up, I will ask 2 or 3 students to stand up and share their summer vacation experience for us. Then, tell students their an new classmate Jane, and lead students together to know Jane’s vacation.

Step II Pre-reading (5minutes)
At first, I will lead students to study the new words. The first time, I read, and students just listen. Second, I read one word, and students read again.
Step III Skimming (10minutes)
In this part, I will give students 5minutes to read Jane’s diary entries about her vacation and tell me where did Jane went on vacation?who did Jane go with?what did she do?Was there any interesting thing or bad thing happened?And what did they do? What are bad things did they have meet?
Purpose of my design: (1)let students master the main content of the diary.
(2)finish the exercises of 2b.
Step IV Language points(15minutes)
In this part, students will read some sentences and study usages of some phrases in them. First sentence “I arrived in Penang in Malaysia”, here “arrive +in/at somewhere”, second sentence is “I felt like I was a bird ”, here “feel like +sth /doing sth”, third sentence is “So we decided to go to the beach near our hotel”, here “decide to do sth”. Let’s look at this sentence and study how to use them.
Step V Retell (5 minutes)
In this part, I will use a form and lead students to review the content of the two diaries. At first, give 2 minutes to students to think back the content of the two diaries, then sign the form on the PPT, and ask some volunteers to fill in them.

Step VI Summary (3minutes)
Today, through Jane’s diary we have learn some new words and have master some
important sentence patterns , and also have talk about our experience for others, I
think everybody have interesting experience.
Step VI Homework Assignment (2 minutes)
1. Review the new words.
2.Write a diary about your vacation, and at least 60 words.
