President Barack Obama has complained about the loss of privacy that comes with being leader of the United States, regretting the loss of simple pleasures such as a long walk or a trip to the car wash or supermarket.
I just miss - I miss being anonymous (无名的), he said I miss Saturday morning, rolling out of bed, not shaving, getting into my car with my girls, driving to the supermarket, squeezing the fruit, getting my car washed, taking walks. I can't take a walk.
His dream, he said, was to go through Central Park and watch folks passing by---spend the day watching people --- I miss that.
Faced with angry criticism for playing more golf than most previous presidents of the White House, he explained that the sport was simply the best way of getting away from the pressure. It's the only excuse I have to get outside for four hours. he told Hearst magazines.
Though he said he enjoyed his life in the White House, he felt disappointed with some of the ways of Washington, which he has failed to change, such as the kabuki dance(日本歌舞)among political parties before serious policy discussions begin. His comments may be seen as evidence by critics who have accused him of appearing too indifferent(漠然), and being slow to engage in important issues such as Libya and the near shutdown of the US government last week.
Since arriving at the White House in January 2009, Mr. Obama has already racked up 60 rounds of golf in office, more than George W Bush did in his eight years. In terms of ability, Golf Digest magazine has ranked Mr. Obama eighth out of the 18 presidents who played the game since it became established in the early 20th century.

Sundance Film Festival
The Sundance Film Festival is held in January of each year in Park City, Utah. This exciting festival is the biggest of its kind in the U.S. It focuses on independent films and it is a platform for new up-and-coming directors to show their creations. The Sundance Festival includes many different categories, from documentary to dramatic, and domestic to international. Both short and full-length pictures are now allowed.
Academy Awards
The Academy Awards ceremony has come a long way from its 1929 beginning as a small, private ceremony to its present-day status as the red carpet event of the year. While the Oscar is the Academy’s best known award, it is not the only one awarded by the Academy. In fact, the Academy’s Board of Governors also gives out Science and Technical Awards, Honorary Awards and Special Achievement Awards.
Cannes International Film Festival
The Cannes International Film Festival is held in Cannes, France. It is an annual event which nowadays takes place during May. The concept of the festival dates back to 1932. Some French film-makers demanded that the French government support a film festival where films could be judged on merit(价值), rather than in a political context. The choice of venue was between Biarritz and Cannes, and the latter was chosen because it was the only place willing to fund the festival. Berlin International Film Festival
One of the most awaited film festivals of the year is the Berlin International Film Festival. It has been held annually since 1951 every February. C
Children start out as natural scientists, eager to look into the world around them. Helping them enjoy science can be easy; there is no need for a lot of scientific terms or expensive lab equipment. You only have to share your children’s curiosity. Firstly, listen to their questions. I once visited a classroom of seven–year-olds to talk about science as a job. The children asked me “textbook questions” about schooling, salary and whether I liked my job. When I finished answering, we sat facing one another in science. Finally I said,” Now that we’ve finished with your questions of your own about science?”
After a long pause, a boy raised his hand, “have you ever seen a grasshopper (蚱蜢) eat? When I try eating leaves like that, I get a stomachache. Why?”
This began a set of questions that lasted nearly two hours.
Secondly, give them time to think. Studies over the past 30 years have shown that. After asking a question, adults typically wait only one second or less for an answer, no time for a child to think. When adults increase their “wait time” to three seconds or more, children give more logical, complete and creative answers.
Thirdly, watch your language. Once you have a child involved in a science discussion, don’t jump in with “That’s right” or “very good”. These words work well when it comes to encouraging good behavior. But in talking about science, quick praise can signal that discussion is over. Instead, keep things going by saying, “That’s interesting” or “I’d never thought of it that way before”, or coming up with more questions or ideas.
Never push a child to “think”. It doesn’t make sense; children are always thinking, without your telling them to. What’s more, this can turn a conversation into a performance. The child will try to find the answer you want, in as few words as possible, so that he will be a small target for your disagreement.
Lastly, show; don’t tell. Real-life impressions of nature are far more impressive than any lesson children can learn from a book or a television program. Let children look at their fingertips through a - 5 -
magnifying glass, and they’ll understand why you want them to wash before dinner. Rather than saying that water evaporates(蒸发), set a pot of water to boil and let them watch the water level drop.
66. According to the passage, children are natural scientist, and to raise their interest, the most important thing for adults to do is______.
A. to share the children’s curiosity
B. to let them see the world around
C. to explain difficult phrases about science
D. to supply the children with lab equipment
67. In the last sentence of the first paragraph, the word “list” could best be replaced by______.
A. any problems B. questions from the textbooks
C. any questions D. any number of questions
68. According to the passage, children can answer questions in a more logical, complete and creative way if adults______.
A. ask them to answer quickly
B. wait for one or two seconds after a question
C. wait at least for three seconds after a question
D. tell them to answer the next day
69. In which of the following paragraph (s) does the author tell us what to say to encourage children in a science discussion?
A. The second and third B. The fifth
C. The fifth and sixth D. The fourth and fifth
70. The author mentions all of the following techniques for adults to share with their children’s curiosity EXCEPT that adults should______.
A. encourage their children to ask questions of their own
B. offer their children chances to see things for themselves
C. be patient enough when their children answer questions
D. tell their children stories instead of reciting (背诵) facts
